Species description:
Species name describing the undulations of the leaves.

Reproduction:
Sporophytes occasional, red-brown and grooved when ripe in late spring.

Distinguishing characteristics:
The habitat on soil, humus or rotten logs combined with the pale, yellow-green to whitish-green colour, the flattened leafy shoots in which the leaves are undulate, plus irregular branching, lack of obvious glossiness and presence of grooved sporangia on a long seta make this moss distinctive.

Habit:
Forming pale, yellow-green to whitish-green mats of undulate leafed shoots.

Similar Species:
From other species of Plagiothecium, the strongly un­dulate, pale yellow-green to whitish-green, barely glossy leaves are usually enough to separate this species. See, however, notes under Neckera and Metaneckera and Plagiothecium denticulatum.
